Moxibustion involves smudging “moxa” in traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), also known as dried mugwort. Practitioners burn moxa to warm specific areas of the body to help relieve a variety of conditions. Thuy Kim Nguyen, DAOM, LAc states “Performing moxibustion with acupuncture can increase its effectiveness.” Further research indicates moxibustion’s effectiveness with joint pain, GI issues, menstrual cramps, and breech pregnancies.
