The Day of Your Visit:

We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing to your visits. In acupuncture, palpation of various body parts is used for diagnosis purposes. Draping is provided to ensure modesty for our patients. Please avoid strongly scented lotions, oils, and perfumes when to your visits, as some patients are allergic to fragrances. We thrive on providing a healthy environment for all.

Prior to your first appointment, ensure all medical forms and insurance verification have been filled out at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. If you have not filled out insurance verification 48 hours prior to appointment, you will be responsible for the full amount of the first treatment.

Payment and insurance:

We accept insurance for acupuncture services only.  We do not bill insurance for Chinese Herbal medicine and Nutrition therapy.  For all new patients planning to use insurance, please make sure you have acupuncture coverage. If you have questions or need verification, please call our office. After your visit, we will bill your insurance.  For follow up patients, payment is expected at each visit, whether it is self-pay or copay. We accept cash, personal checks, and credit cards.

We are in network with Carefirst Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna.  We also provide a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance if we are not in network with them.  Please check with your insurance for out of network coverages.

Clean Environment:

At NIH, we believe in providing a healing space that includes a clean space.  The treatment spaces are cleaned after each patient.  All equipment, such as cups are used once and then thoroughly cleaned.  We use sterile, single use, disposable needles.  After use, they are discarded into bio-hazardous waste containers.

All practitioners at NIH are certified in Clean Needle Technique by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
